Parking Requirements for Mobile Windshield Service
The parking requirements for mobile windshield service are straightforward: you need a flat, level surface with about three feet of clearance on each side of the vehicle and four feet of clearance in front. The surface should be paved, either concrete or asphalt, though stable gravel works in a pinch. Home driveways, office parking lots, apartment visitor spots, covered parking garages, and even curbside residential street parking all qualify. If your vehicle requires ADAS camera calibration after the replacement, you need approximately 15 to 20 feet of open space in front of the car for target placement. Shade is preferred but not required since our technicians bring portable shade canopies for sunny Denver days. The most popular locations across the Denver metro are suburban driveways in Highlands Ranch and Arvada, office parking lots in the Denver Tech Center and Westminster, and apartment complex visitor parking in Capitol Hill and RiNo. If you are unsure whether your specific spot works, call (720) 918-7465 and describe your situation.
One of the most practical questions about mobile windshield service is "What kind of parking spot do I need?" The good news is that the requirements are minimal. If you can park a car, you almost certainly have enough space for mobile windshield work. Here are the specifics.
Minimum Space Requirements
The technician needs enough room to work around the front of your vehicle. The basic requirements are:
- Side clearance -- about three feet on each side of the vehicle. This allows the technician to move around, handle glass, and position tools.
- Front clearance -- about four feet in front of the vehicle for glass handling and, if needed, ADAS calibration target placement.
- Door access -- the front doors need to open fully, as the technician may need to access the interior for trim work and sensor connections.
A standard residential driveway in Denver easily provides this space. A single parking space in an office lot provides enough room. Even a parallel-parked spot on a residential street can work, though a driveway or lot is preferred.
Surface Requirements
The surface should be:
- Flat and level -- the vehicle needs to be on a relatively level surface. Slight inclines (like a typical Denver driveway) are fine. Steep hills are not ideal because the glass needs to set level in the adhesive.
- Stable -- paved surfaces (concrete, asphalt) are best. Gravel driveways work but are not preferred because they can shift. Grass is workable in dry conditions but can be problematic after rain or snow.
- Clean -- ideally free of heavy dust, mud, or debris that could contaminate the adhesive. Denver's dry climate means most paved surfaces are clean enough.
Best Locations for Mobile Service in Denver
Home Driveways
The most common and most convenient location. Suburban driveways in communities like Highlands Ranch, Arvada, Lakewood, and Centennial typically offer more than enough space. Even shorter driveways in older Denver neighborhoods like Park Hill or Congress Park work well -- the vehicle just needs to be pulled far enough up that the technician has room in front. See our home driveway service guide for more.
Office Parking Lots
Open parking lots at office buildings, especially in the Denver Tech Center, Greenwood Village, and Westminster business parks, are ideal. Plenty of space, flat surface, and the technician's service vehicle can park nearby without blocking other spots. The best approach is to park at the end of a row with empty spaces on either side. Read our full guide on office parking lot replacements.
Apartment and Condo Parking
Apartment complexes present unique challenges but are absolutely workable. The best options are visitor parking spaces (which tend to be in open areas), designated uncovered spots, and surface lots. Covered garage spaces can work if there is adequate ceiling height (at least seven feet) and the technician can access the front of the vehicle. We have detailed guidance for apartment and condo service.
Street Parking
Residential street parking works when there are no other options. The technician can set up curbside, though it is not the preferred location due to traffic proximity and limited space. In neighborhoods like Capitol Hill, Baker, and Uptown where driveways are rare, street parking is common and we accommodate it regularly. Just make sure you are not in a time-limited or metered zone.
What About Covered Parking and Garages?
Covered parking actually provides some advantages -- protection from sun, rain, and wind. As long as the ceiling height is at least seven feet and the technician has room to maneuver around the vehicle, covered spots and garages work well. Multi-level parking garages can also work, but the technician needs to be able to park the service vehicle reasonably close by.
ADAS Calibration Space Requirements
If your vehicle requires ADAS camera calibration after windshield replacement, you need a bit more space. Static calibration requires placing targets at a specific distance in front of the vehicle -- usually 6 to 10 feet. This means you need about 15 to 20 feet of open space in front of the car. Most driveways and parking lots provide this easily. Garage spaces typically do not have enough depth for calibration, so the vehicle may need to be moved to an open area for this step.
